Francois-Marie Arouet, more famously known as Voltaire, was a French philosopher, essayist, and writer. He actively struggled for civil liberties such as free trade and the practice of religion. Voltaire was a man ahead of times. His views, being unorthodox, often invited the wrath of French aristocracy.
